This goes out to all the people that had to drop out due to mental health issues. It can be done, but I won’t lie it was difficult and came with sacrifices. Couldn't have made it without a supportive parent that sacrificed a lot for me to be able to even get this diploma.

I learned a couple years back that it makes sense to group things outside of my comfort zone into easier, tougher and hard things to do. I just called them comfort zone lists.
The frequency of doing these is something that could be natural or set as a goal. Really depends how much you wanna push yourself 😅

I've experienced these green flags with women all my life, but recently I've experienced this more and more with men. Trauma can really skew your view of yourself and your safety with others. That's why relationship and friendship green flags are something I just regularly check in with internally to review my social network 👀
Some days you won't feel seen and heard because other people might have a hard day and can't hold apace for you. People will still trigger you unintentionally. But if the baseline stays the same about feeling seen most of the time, that person working on themselves most of the time & you knowing they'd be there for you if absolutely necessary, then that's a green flag friendship or relationship 💖
I'm really glad to have healed enough to now feel safe like that with men in friendships and absolutely destroy the notion of men and women not being able to be friends once again (hated that notion since elementary school!) 🥰

For real, their definition of success is different from yours. Others might have the same values and similar goals to you, but defining success goes beyond material things and numerical metrics. Success is a feeling and an environment 🙌🏻
Defining success for myself has been one of the most freeing things ever because I just stopped envying a lot of people and instead looked at them as motivation and fuel to what my version of success is.

💜 BOUNDARIES YOU MIGHT NEED 💜
Boundaries were such a buzz word in my life for so long and I never understood what they exactly meant beyond the basics of consent and obviously uncomfortable situations. I've read "Set Boundaries, Find Peace" not too long ago and it really opened my eyes to how many boundaries I was already kinda setting and how many I should implement. And it came really natural to me over the last months as my stress levels reached a new high. I said no to calls and meeting times I couldn't make or didn't have the energy to. I prioritized what work was high importance and urgency and gave myself the pass to skip the other work on bad days. I communicated when I disliked something. I spoke up for myself, asked for what I needed and made self care activities more of a priority in my work breaks.
...now I only need to figure out how to implement more habits for my backpain and find an ergonomic chair 🤪

👀 summer 2020 was my hell 👀
existential crisis, followed by heavy generalized anxiety disorder making a comeback, trying a new therapist and having that therapist trigger me right into depression (and the first and only time I've ever experienced active suicidal ideation for a single day of my life). Mid June till start of September 2020 were fun times. I felt the smaller waves this time made up into the first half of 2021. But I've been on a steady path of healing, even with the curveballs the last six months have thrown at me. I take time for self care and rest, I worry less about the future, I see for the first time ever what an actual support network looks like and I'm socializing through the screen basically daily. Thoughtfully picked community is healing to the soul. There are types of stability you cannot buy 💖

💖 no, forgiveness is not for yourself unless it's self-forgiveness 💖
I don't know who co-opted the idea of accepting and understanding your past and labelled it forgiveness. Forgiveness is not for yourself. You can let go of something without having forgiven the other person that hurt you. You don't have to forgive to understand why they acted the way they did. Some people don't deserve forgiveness and it's the last step ever in the healing journey of most people. It angers me how many people with trauma are told to forgive to heal. No, you heal to forgive. I will stand by that. You do the work and then decide to forgive your abuser, not the other way around.
Now, self-forgiveness and self-compassion are good tools to heal from the beginning, even being compassionate about the other person from a distance by understanding why they turned out the way they did can be healing. But those things are not comparable with the monumental decision to forgive someone that hurt you deeply.
That advice of forgiving for your own sake is good for small things, maybe friendships that ended rough, but not something to EVER tell a traumatized person. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, eff you if you frame healing with ultimatums about steps that "have" to be taken to heal. There are more paths to healing than we can count. Stop telling people them not forgiving harmful people is like drinking poison.
