					<description><![CDATA[<p>Today‘s topic is struggle in relation to success. And I don‘t only mean failing and learning from stuff, I mean struggling with your mental health, decisions, thought patterns and entire projects. Successful people don‘t get super open about their actual struggles on the way to success and I think that really hurts the mindset of young creatives, especially in the age of social media highlight reels. No, it‘s not enough anymore to tell people you had depression. It is a first step, yes. But unless there is any context on how it felt, impacted you or how you got through it, it‘s nothing more than a side fact about you. That‘s leaving the impression somewhere between the lines that you didn‘t lay in bed for weeks unable to do shit for your career and anyone that has depression that looks up to you could just interpret it that way and pressure themselves. Now, don‘t get me wrong. Nobody should tell everybody their life story, but if mental illness is a part of it, it should revolve around how that time looked realistically. Because even though I rationally know that depression is similar for most people, an anxious or depressed brain is a comparison brain and if you don‘t ever talk about how crippling some things were for you, people will feel like they have to mask it and push on to get where you are. There needs to be a storytelling aspect beyond „I had depression early in my career.“ Let‘s get away from mental illness for a bit. Struggle in general is a part of life and growth. ESPECIALLY if you worked your way up to incredible heights. And while it is cool to flex all the stuff you struggled for, there has to be more realness about struggle being part of the deal. More and more people in Generation Z feel like they are behind or something is wrong with them because they struggle immensely. Again, a „I‘ve struggled“ from their idol doesn‘t really cut it. A „I struggled with this and that so hard in the beginning of my career and I struggle with xyz to this day. I still compare myself a lot when it comes to  ____.“ There is much more depth in that and makes people feel less like they are alone. We all struggle the same and sharing that should be normalized more. Not just because it teaches younger generations that struggling is part of growing to those heights, but also to humanize successful people again, because currently a majority of them benefit from being too much of a persona, completely dehumanized. That damages so much in parasocial relationships with fans. I can relate much better to a Halsey that is open about her bipolar or a Brie Larson talking about her struggles in finding herself within her industry, than I can relate to a Drake or a Ellen. And that‘s because of in-depth interviews that go beyond the standard PR and because of people having youtube channels where they don‘t just post perfectly scripted and edited work. I see this problem especially with men. It would have a big impact on society if people in those positions would be more candid about this stuff. I&#8217;m sure it would prompt way more teens to develop different habits when it comes to mental health and socializing standards. So, I started this podcast with this stuff in mind. I‘ll invite creatives of any size of following and from different kinds of niches to talk about struggles, mental health and how they keep a balance. Let‘s get rid of the idea that anything creative in this world should be connected to perfectionism. We are human. That goes for an Instagram Influencer as much as for a business coach, and for a new author as much as a Hollywood actor. Let‘s make this a place of honesty and comfort and let‘s actually try to grow this to a point where I can invite people you might look up to, to talk about the imperfections being a part of this journey. 		<title>Setting priorities as a creative</title>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Sensory Overload is something you might‘ve heard about before. It is mostly experienced by people with anxiety, ADD and people on the autism spectrum. Something similar to this can happen to creative people when they get so laser focused and obsessed with something that they get overwhelmed by it. I don‘t have a name for it, but I do know how it felt when I spent several days in a row figuring out how to start a podcast or sitting on my computer for two weeks just figuring out how taxes work in Germany when you plan on starting a business. It‘s not quite burnout, but oh boy, does it come with a lot of overwhelm. Let&#8217;s look at how we can work on it by setting priorities as a creative. How to deal with it Here‘s the thing, there is usually an end to those phases of laser focus, but your body keeps giving you these stress signals and that restlessness that you had around researching that thing or building whatever. Let me give you a breakdown of how to deal with this and any other kind of overwhelm. Journal We‘re on episode ten but you‘ll hear this for pretty much any emotional problem from me. Journal it out. Can be in your notes app, in a journal or on Google Docs on your computer. Getting your jumbled mess of a mind onto paper helps with organizing your thoughts and slows your infinitely fast spiral down. Something similar to this can happen to creative people when they get so laser focused and obsessed with something that they get overwhelmed by it.</p>



<p>I don‘t have a name for it, but I do know how it felt when I spent several days in a row figuring out how to start a podcast or sitting on my computer for two weeks just figuring out how taxes work in Germany when you plan on starting a business. <p>If none of these help you might need help rationalizing your inner workings by talking it out with someone else and getting their input. I know I definitely need that after I consumed all the knowledge about something within a couple days. Your brain sometimes just needs to dump it all back out to organize it and make it seem less daunting.</p>

		<title>Why an evening routine is the best idea for creatives</title>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>I feel like most creative people tend to have their best ideas and flow state moments in the evenings and at night. That can be great a couple times a month, but it shouldn‘t be normal for our health&#8217;s sake. The way to solve that is by creating an evening routine. I already talked about morning routines in episode 3, but I wanted to go further on the evening routines I mentioned there and why an evening routine is the best idea for creatives. Boundaries The first part of an evening routine is setting yourself a time limit for work. Mine is 8pm, I won‘t work after 8pm unless I‘m absolutely having some breakthrough moment stuff happening. Having this time limit helps you relax and keeps you from being constantly „on“ which I talked about in the episode about toxic productivity. What else should be part of an evening routine for it to be actually helpful and helping us mentally? For one you might want to have a sleep time and stop looking at your phone an hour beforehand. I also struggle with this, but it helps having app blocks activated so you can‘t open certain apps during a specific time. I actually use two apps when I‘m in one of my hardcore social media phases. It also helps deleting apps that eat up too much of your time. TikTok is banned from my phone and Instagram has a time limit. <p>I feel like most creative people tend to have their best ideas and flow state moments in the evenings and at night. That can be great a couple times a month, but it shouldn‘t be normal for our health&#8217;s sake. The way to solve that is by creating an evening routine. I already talked about morning routines in <a href="https://www.rayowag.com/staying-mentally-healthy-as-a-creative/">episode 3</a>, but I wanted to go further on the evening routines I mentioned there and why an evening routine is the best idea for creatives.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Boundaries</strong></h3>



<p>The first part of an evening routine is setting yourself a time limit for work. Mine is 8pm, I won‘t work after 8pm unless I‘m absolutely having some breakthrough moment stuff happening. Having this time limit helps you relax and keeps you from being constantly „on“ which I talked about in the <a href="https://www.rayowag.com/the-mindset-of-toxic-productivity/">episode about toxic productivity</a>.</p>



<p>What else should be part of an evening routine for it to be actually helpful and helping us mentally? For one you might want to have a sleep time and stop looking at your phone an hour beforehand. I also struggle with this, but it helps having app blocks activated so you can‘t open certain apps during a specific time. I actually use two apps when I‘m in one of my hardcore social media phases. It also helps deleting apps that eat up too much of your time. TikTok is banned from my phone and Instagram has a time limit.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Evening activities</strong></h3>

		<title>What is the Flow State &#038; how do I achieve it?</title>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>I already named quite a few perks to practicing mindfulness in the 3rd episode of the podcast. It is a big part of stable mental health and a clear mind. Especially meditation creates a lot of benefits when done 20 minutes a day. But how can it improve creativity? Have you ever heard of a flow state? What is the flow state? That‘s the feeling when the task at hand has your undivided attention and you forget everything around you and it just flows. We actually lose self-consciousness while being in that state and like doing the task for the task and not for the future benefit of doing the task. Flow states can be found in a lot of places. Listening to music or playing an instrument can create that feeling. Being hyper focused on playing a sport that state is triggered. Being immersed in playing a game can create that flow state too. Even when learning something and studying that state can be reached. But you‘ll mostly know it from whatever hobby you are doing. From writing, over painting to acting. Believe it or not, but doing new things outside of your comfort zone can create a flow state too, because you are extra concentrated on building that new skill. It‘s placed between boredom &#38; anxiety, so unless you struggle with anxiety a lot it won‘t be super hard to achieve that state from time to time, especially when you train yourself to. Activities triggering that flow state: Hiking cooking swimming running climbing moving meditation any work that has a level of precision You know what also helps to achieve it when working? The Pomodoro time management method. You concentrate on a task for 25 minutes without distractions and then take five minute breaks in between. Others do it in 50 minute work and 10 minute break intervals. It‘s especially helpful when studying or researching new things. Since we all know this state we also know how good it feels to be in it. Us creatives tend to be easily stressed by all our ideas and tasks and sometimes sitting down with a coloring book and being laser focused helps us not think about the fire going on in our brain for a while. Things like this keep us sane. They help our brain work through things and if we try it can even help us figure out thought patterns crossing our mind while we‘re on that task since they are so filtered through our deep focus. 		<title>Why we need self acceptance &#038; self compassion</title>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Do you know the saying that you need to love yourself first before anybody else can love you? I call bullshit on that. You don‘t have to love yourself, you have to accept yourself. BIG difference. Self Love is a hard thing to master. When it comes to your appearance it can be quite easy to develop with the right inner work, but I rarely hear people talk about self love when it comes to the thought process about yourself and your environment. That‘s because you need self compassion and self acceptance there first. I‘m sure you have felt guilty about something super small before that affected nobody but you. For example, when you had a lazy day or lazy week. Instead of beating yourself up over that, wouldn‘t it be easier to accept that it happened, that you needed it, that it served a purpose? Yes. Self Acceptance That also works on the larger scale with any feeling. If you can‘t accept your current emotion it will just build up. This lack of self-acceptance can turn into mild depression actually. Accepting that you are feeling a certain way and letting yourself go through the emotion with self compassion actually makes your bad feelings go away faster. It‘s like fear, the only way out is through. Take it from someone that had anxiety for 7 years. Self Compassion Self compassion is a habit. A habit of speaking to yourself like a good friend or a good parent would. When you fail at something, you stop yourself from spiraling and say to yourself „I can‘t change that this happened, I can only try again or accept it as it is.“ and then let yourself feel any feelings left after rationalizing it. It also helps to tell yourself that no matter what happens in your life, you are inherently worthy and nothing can take away from that worthiness. You are always enough, even when others tell you or make you feel like you aren‘t. There are some things you just ARE and that doesn‘t ever change. About perfectionism Another BIG thing is letting go of perfectionism. Nothing is perfect. No, not even your celeb crush. Not even your favorite recipe. Not even your favorite movie. They are perfect to YOU, because you accept their flaws and that‘s what you should do with yourself. Accept your flaws, because without them you would be kinda boring. Flaws &#38; Superpowers You could even make flaws and weaknesses your superpowers. Look at me, I‘ve dealt with mental health problems my entire life and now you‘re listening to me and get the advice I have to give. Maybe you‘ve gotten very good at writing because you‘re such an introvert and should put your writing out there even if it‘s not perfect. Maybe you are bad at languages but good at mathematical stuff and could help other people with it. This is just surface level examples, this can go so much deeper. Comfort Zone It also is sure as hell easier to make a jump out of your comfort zone and to believe in yourself when you have developed self acceptance. Look at me starting this podcast. I‘m scared shitless doing this because I‘m afraid it might fail, but I‘m doing it anyway, because even if it does fail, YOU will have heard this (and read it) and it will have impacted you somehow. No impact is too little. That goes for self acceptance, self compassion, habits, putting yourself out there, ANYTHING. Let‘s get into a few things you can do to cultivate that sweet sweet self acceptance. Meditation You will hear me talk about this quite a lot on the show because it is such an essential part to staying sane in this weird world. Through meditation you come back to the here and now and you learn to see your thoughts from a neutral perspective. It takes a little bit of practice and might not be for people that have problems with focusing, but grounding techniques overall will always help. They will always help put you back into the here and now instead of panicking over outcomes or what has already happened and is out of your control. Now grab a journal That‘s also something you‘ll hear a lot in my solo episodes. Write down if this situation right now will take away any of your good qualities? Does it make sense to feel hopeless because this one thing happened? Is there a guarantee it will affect life in ten years? There is a 99,9% chance the answer to all of these are No. At least if you answer with your rational mind. I dropped out of school twice and while that has definitely impacted my life, that doesn‘t mean that impact was bad. I just learned different things through going a different path. Maybe you just ended a friendship or relationship and feel like it DOES have an impact on where you would be in 10 years. I doubt it. Some things that are hard to go through are meant to happen to make place for better things. Affirmations Another practice I recommend are affirmations. Vague or specific, doesn‘t matter. What matters is how they sound best to you. When I was 11 or 12 I learned that smiling at your reflection, smiling and complimenting yourself in your mind improved body-confidence. I just did it from then on and I‘d like to think I have it. I think my favorite affirmation for self acceptance is „I‘m not stupid for acting stupidly. Rather, I am a non-stupid person who sometimes produces stupid behavior, because I am human and imperfection is part of the human experience.“ I also love „It may be better to succeed, but success does not make me a better person.“ or „It may be worse to fail, but failure does not make me a bad person.“ You get the idea. Inner Critic Another thing you can do is thanking your inner critic.It [&#8230;]</p>

<p>Self Love is a hard thing to master. When it comes to your appearance it can be quite easy to develop with the right inner work, but I rarely hear people talk about self love when it comes to the thought process about yourself and your environment.</p>



<p>That‘s because you need self compassion and self acceptance there first. I‘m sure you have felt guilty about something super small before that affected nobody but you. For example, when you had a lazy day or lazy week. Instead of beating yourself up over that, wouldn‘t it be easier to accept that it happened, that you needed it, that it served a purpose? Yes.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Self Acceptance</strong></h3>



<p>That also works on the larger scale with any feeling. If you can‘t accept your current emotion it will just build up. This lack of self-acceptance can turn into mild depression actually. Accepting that you are feeling a certain way and letting yourself go through the emotion with self compassion actually makes your bad feelings go away faster. It‘s like fear, the only way out is through. Take it from someone that had anxiety for 7 years.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Self Compassion</strong></h3>



<p>Self compassion is a habit. A habit of speaking to yourself like a good friend or a good parent would. When you fail at something, you stop yourself from spiraling and say to yourself „I can‘t change that this happened, I can only try again or accept it as it is.“ and then let yourself feel any feelings left after rationalizing it.</p>



<p>It also helps to tell yourself that no matter what happens in your life, you are inherently worthy and nothing can take away from that worthiness. You are always enough, even when others tell you or make you feel like you aren‘t. There are some things you just ARE and that doesn‘t ever change.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>About perfectionism</strong></h3>



<p>Another BIG thing is letting go of perfectionism. Nothing is perfect. No, not even your celeb crush. Not even your favorite recipe. Not even your favorite movie. They are perfect to YOU, because you accept their flaws and that‘s what you should do with yourself. Accept your flaws, because without them you would be kinda boring.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Flaws &amp; Superpowers</strong></h3>



<p>You could even make flaws and weaknesses your superpowers. Look at me, I‘ve dealt with mental health problems my entire life and now you‘re listening to me and get the advice I have to give. Maybe you‘ve gotten very good at writing because you‘re such an introvert and should put your writing out there even if it‘s not perfect. Maybe you are bad at languages but good at mathematical stuff and could help other people with it. This is just surface level examples, this can go so much deeper.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Comfort Zone</strong></h3>



<p>It also is sure as hell easier to make a jump out of your comfort zone and to believe in yourself when you have developed self acceptance. Look at me starting this podcast. I‘m scared shitless doing this because I‘m afraid it might fail, but I‘m doing it anyway, because even if it does fail, YOU will have heard this (and read it) and it will have impacted you somehow. No impact is too little. That goes for self acceptance, self compassion, habits, putting yourself out there, ANYTHING.</p>



<p>Let‘s get into a few things you can do to cultivate that sweet sweet self acceptance.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Meditation</strong></h3>



<p>You will hear me talk about this quite a lot on the show because it is such an essential part to staying sane in this weird world. Through meditation you come back to the here and now and you learn to see your thoughts from a neutral perspective. It takes a little bit of practice and might not be for people that have problems with focusing, but grounding techniques overall will always help. They will always help put you back into the here and now instead of panicking over outcomes or what has already happened and is out of your control.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Now grab a journal</strong></h3>



<p>That‘s also something you‘ll hear a lot in my solo episodes. Write down if this situation right now will take away any of your good qualities? Does it make sense to feel hopeless because this one thing happened? Is there a guarantee it will affect life in ten years? There is a 99,9% chance the answer to all of these are No. At least if you answer with your rational mind. I dropped out of school twice and while that has definitely impacted my life, that doesn‘t mean that impact was bad. I just learned different things through going a different path. Maybe you just ended a friendship or relationship and feel like it DOES have an impact on where you would be in 10 years. I doubt it. Some things that are hard to go through are meant to happen to make place for better things.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Affirmations</strong></h3>



<p>Another practice I recommend are affirmations. Vague or specific, doesn‘t matter. What matters is how they sound best to you. When I was 11 or 12 I learned that smiling at your reflection, smiling and complimenting yourself in your mind improved body-confidence. I just did it from then on and I‘d like to think I have it.</p>



<p>I think my favorite affirmation for self acceptance is „I‘m not stupid for acting stupidly. Rather, I am a non-stupid person who sometimes produces stupid behavior, because I am human and imperfection is part of the human experience.“ I also love „It may be better to succeed, but success does not make me a better person.“ or „It may be worse to fail, but failure does not make me a bad person.“ You get the idea.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Inner Critic</strong></h3>



<p>Another thing you can do is thanking your inner critic.It sometimes really just wants to protect you and therefore holds you back. Thank it for trying to protect you, but tell it that you are still the driver of this vehicle. If you‘ve read Elizabeth Gilbert‘s „<a href="https://amzn.to/3irZ4T7"><strong>Big Magic</strong></a>“ you‘ll know this reference of sitting your emotions into a car and only letting them make suggestions and nothing more. It‘s an amazing read for creatives like you.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Forgiving</strong></h3>



<p>A harder practice to start is the practice of forgiving yourself for things you did. Like forgiving yourself for talking to yourself badly, judging yourself and treating yourself badly in the past. This feels weird to do in the beginning, but has a big effect long term. By forgiving yourself for your own mistakes, you let go of weight that‘s on your heart. You‘ll only notice it once it‘s gone.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>More</strong></h3>



<p>There is also radical acceptance and shadow work. They sound more new age than they actually are. I can talk about these in future episodes if you would like me to.</p>



<p>Overall I‘d just suggest starting a mindfulness habit. Being in the here and now already does a lot for acceptance and compassion towards yourself. If you need help with that there are tons of guided meditations on Youtube for this.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Toxic Productivity. Have you ever heard that term? It could also be called internalized hustle culture or a symptom of imposter syndrome. Toxic Productivity is that internalized need to always be productive. That guilty feeling you have when you rest. I think this is a major problem people have in their 20s and I‘m no exception. Toxic Productivity is a product of capitalism and the highlight reel of social media. It categorizes everything that isn‘t actively working on your dreams as unproductive. And the worst part is that there are people out there trying to convince you that you have to work every second of your freetime for your goal. Don‘t get me wrong, if you want something you do need some dedication, but ruining your mental and physical health through constant stress isn‘t helping. This is one of the topics that stuck with me so much that it is part of why I started my podcast. There is a reason I want to show you not only my imperfections and tips, but also humanize other creative paths on every level of success. I want to show people that even the biggest actors and bloggers had phases where they didn‘t have more to give and needed to recharge. How to get rid of it So how do you get rid of the mindset of toxic productivity. For one, you need to try noticing it when it hits your thoughts. Which situations are these thoughts the most common in? Are they prevalent in specific phases of your life, like when your mental health takes a dive? What do the thoughts actually say? From there you can reframe your inner critic voice that tells you that you are not doing enough and tell it that you can‘t pour from an empty cup. You should also start reframing rest and self care into productive ways to spend your time because they are essential to your health. Just because society doesn‘t categorize them that way doesn‘t mean you can‘t. Know that it is easy to fall back into the mindset of toxic productivity. Especially if you tend to compare yourself to others and even envy their success. For that I have one simple tip: Define two things for yourself in depth in a journal. What is YOUR definition of success and what is YOUR definition of happiness. My definition of success: Loving what I do to make money. Helping people with what I do. Being known for what I do („The girl that helps creatives stay sane“). Having a stable income. Ideally making __k+ Euros (after taxes). Being financially independent. Being able to save and spend a lot of money through good budgeting. Having friends that are creative, supportive and challenging me. Having a community supporting what I do mentally and financially. Getting to work with other creative people in my niche and other niches. Having social proof (from milestones to a blue checkmark). Being published in 2-3 publications. Having a book out. Being able to buy a house with the money I make. Being able to pay money to stay healthy (from healthy food boxes to massages and sport). Getting to know people I look up to now (w/o having to be on that level of fame myself, but if it happens it happens). Having a good balance between my work, my hobbies, my freetime and my health. Having a support network around me. My definition of happiness: being in the moment (being okay with where I am even when working towards growth) being healthy &#38; all my people being healthy having no worries about money having people to rely on accepting and loving myself having a support network making others happy being alive &#38; breathing achieving small &#38; big goals living out my passion not being stressed spending time with family &#38; friends having warmth around me and giving it to myself personal growth being grateful for what I have taking time for myself making memories with others exploring myself &#38; the world having my needs met being able to feel my emotions &#38; heal old wounds believing good things can still happen being in nature succeeding in what I love doing helping other people &#38; putting a smile on their face Everytime I feel myself getting unstable, I go back and read those and tell myself I can add to it whenever I desire to. <p>Everytime I feel myself getting unstable, I go back and read those and tell myself I can add to it whenever I desire to.</p>

So habits and especially routines can help a lot with not falling off track with your mental health. Yes, I mean morning and evening routines. You should really start one yourself and see how helpful they can be. I got my eyes opened by the book „Miracle Morning“ by Hal Elrod. The Miracle Morning Routine has 6 habits in it. Meditation, Affirmation, Visualization, Exercise, Reading and Journaling. I tweaked mine a little bit and combined meditation, affirmation and visualization into a specific kind of meditation I do. So it can boil down to four habits: Meditation, Exercise, Reading &#38; Journaling. Three of those also happen to be common coping habits you will come across in therapy. <p>Mental Health is THE topic of our time. Doesn‘t matter if you‘re a student, working an average job or you‘re an entrepreneur, this topic crosses your path regularly.</p>



<p>Creative people like you and me tend to be drawn into a mental illness easier than others. We think with emotions more than with rationality and that opens us up to negative thought spirals, thinking up worst case scenarios and pushing stress hormones into our system.<br>So how can you stay mentally healthy as a creator?</p>

<p>Healthy habits. Coping mechanisms. And a bit of escapism sprinkled in. If you put it under an umbrella term that would probably be self care.</p>



<p>I think when someone is open minded, it also means every day is a little different for you in its time management, emotions and stress levels. So habits and especially routines can help a lot with not falling off track with your mental health. Yes, I mean morning and evening routines. <p>I got my eyes opened by the book „<a href="https://amzn.to/38M599D" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Miracle Morning</a>“ by Hal Elrod. The Miracle Morning Routine has 6 habits in it. I breathe deeply and try to visualize either what I‘ll do for the day, a short term goal being achieved or a long term goal being achieved. And then I repeat affirmations in my head. <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Reading</h3>



<p>Now to the reading part. I usually read self-help books for this part, since it‘s easier to read them in small bits and still keep the information. Sometimes I only read one page, sometimes two chapters. This is the habit that I let slack the most in this routine. I‘m sure most of you can relate to that problem of not reading enough.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Writing</h3>



<p>Last but not least, my favorite habit that helps so much with not only detecting mental health problems early on but also with getting rid of brain fog in the middle of a bad phase: JOURNALING! 					<description><![CDATA[<p>Burnout is arguably the most common type of depression. Why does it hit creative people the most? Let&#8217;s talk about creatives and burnout. We live in a capitalistic system. To survive in our current system we need money. That&#8217;s where this problem starts. A lot of creative people are either self-employed or they tend to have jobs that don‘t align with their passion to survive financially. The unfulfilling job giving you burnout is kind of an obvious matter. But being self employed, having a side hustle or otherwise just having motivations to make your creation successful? That comes with the „hustling“ mindset and the mindset of little rest. We see highlight reels of others.That makes us feel like we constantly have to be on and makes us feel almost guilty for resting. Take all of that and put it together with having a mind that soaks up information to make it into ideas and you‘re overwhelmed. And if your brain is overwhelmed all the time it will get sick and tell your body about it. What is the solution to this problem? Boundaries.You will slip with these boundaries and have to refocus on them because as long as the foundation of capitalism exists, you will have these outside effects pressuring you. What kind of boundaries can you set? You can look at when you are the most productive during the day and put most of your important work in there.You look at less productive times during the day and split them into maintenance tasks and rest. Everyone needs a different level of rest and it can be quite hard to find a middle ground between too much and not enough. Don‘t go into this with the mindset of perfectionism. Your body isn‘t an AI, it‘s nature. Other boundaries you can set are… strict screen time strict single tasking set work hours with set breaks 5 minute breaks with breathing exercises every hour following a set routine for the common tasks you do having a must-do self care day every week or every two weeks journaling your feelings at the start and-or the end of every day And also ask others around you how much they ACTUALLY work and rest! Another important thing I want to mention is the following: If you have mental illness or dealt with it in the past you will be more prone to this than others, simply because there are already systems in place that allow it to grow faster and in random phases of life. I remember the pandemic hitting and dealing with isolation well, launching my „How to get your life together“ workbook and then falling down a whole of not wanting to do anything. It wasn‘t quite burnout but also not really a depression like you know it from description. It was just one big executive dysfunction phase. If you don‘t know what executive dysfunction is: It‘s common in ADHD and depression. 		<title>Let’s humanize our journeys again!</title>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>I was staring at the ceiling from my bed in the middle of summer last year and I asked myself why I and other people my age desired the life of others so much. We envy people, we live for their version of success and we also believe that once we reached their point of success, we won’t have any problems anymore. With your rational mind you are instantly aware of how untrue these statements are and how toxic that ends up being. The first thing I ever did about this was not what would’ve made all of it easier. Instead google the hell out of success and fame. I learned a lot about psychological effects of fame and I learned more about what success can be and how you should go soul searching to define it for yourself. Ultimately that is what I did. I sat down and wrote down what success is for me and what happiness is for me. Those two things aren’t inherently connected, even though the world wants you to think that. After all of this soul searching I knew I wanted to do more. I wanted to learn about other people’s paths, struggles, successes and daily life. I was disappointed in how social media made us dehumanize ourselves towards others to make ourselves seem perfect. There is no community aspect in that. Showing less and less struggles and how we deal with them has done so much to the mental health of my generation. It became the inspiration for a podcast. The Self Care Creative. Let’s humanize our journeys again! I needed a place to talk about this, reach other people, and have better communication with the community. I needed a place that made me go out and ask people to talk to me about their life and their mental health. A place outside of my comfort zone that was about not being perfect and about admitting struggles. Because if I learned one thing: Sharing pain reduces it. Sharing struggles makes us feel less alone and more human. I can admit that starting this was and is scary. Not knowing a lot about audio processing, interviewing or contacting people really just made this a field day for my inner critic, but I’m pushing past it. After 2020, the year that destroyed something in all of us, whatever it may be, I wanted to create something that builds up. Because 2020 was not only a year breaking me. It was a year breaking me open, making me see what I need to heal and how to heal it. What does this journey hold? I don’t know. But I know I will learn a lot of new things from a lot of people and about myself. And I know it will touch other people. If you’re here from the first episode: Hi! <p>I was staring at the ceiling from my bed in the middle of summer last year and I asked myself why I and other people my age desired the life of others so much. We envy people, we live for their version of success and we also believe that once we reached their point of success, we won’t have any problems anymore. With your rational mind you are instantly aware of how untrue these statements are and how toxic that ends up being.</p>

<p>The first thing I ever did about this was not what would’ve made all of it easier. Instead google the hell out of success and fame. I learned a lot about psychological effects of fame and I learned more about what success can be and how you should go soul searching to define it for yourself. Ultimately that is what I did. I sat down and wrote down what success is for me and what happiness is for me. Those two things aren’t inherently connected, even though the world wants you to think that.</p>



<p>After all of this soul searching I knew I wanted to do more. I wanted to learn about other people’s paths, struggles, successes and daily life. I was disappointed in how social media made us dehumanize ourselves towards others to make ourselves seem perfect. There is no community aspect in that. Showing less and less struggles and how we deal with them has done so much to the mental health of my generation. It became the inspiration for a podcast. <a href="https://www.rayowag.com/category/theselfcarecreative" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Self Care Creative</a>. Let’s humanize our journeys again!</p>



<p>I needed a place to talk about this, reach other people, and have better communication with the community. I needed a place that made me go out and ask people to talk to me about their life and their mental health. A place outside of my comfort zone that was about not being perfect and about admitting struggles. Because if I learned one thing: Sharing pain reduces it. Sharing struggles makes us feel less alone and more human.</p>



<p>I can admit that starting this was and is scary. Not knowing a lot about audio processing, interviewing or contacting people really just made this a field day for my inner critic, but I’m pushing past it. After 2020, the year that destroyed something in all of us, whatever it may be, I wanted to create something that builds up. Because 2020 was not only a year breaking me. It was a year breaking me open, making me see what I need to heal and how to heal it.</p>



<p>What does this journey hold? I don’t know. But I know I will learn a lot of new things from a lot of people and about myself. And I know it will touch other people.</p>
